Council News
The American Craft Show
Baltimore
As a new year approaches, the
Council is busy preparing for
its 34th annual show in Febru-
ary at the Baltimore Conven-
tion Center, the largest juried,
indoor craft show in the na-
tion. Buyers can save time by
pre-registering online until
Feb. 18 at craftcouncil.org/
wholesale for badges to access
the wholesale event (Feb. 23-
24). Now running for four
days, the retail portion will
take place Feb. 25-28.
There will be several op-
portunities for wholesale buy-
ers to mix and mingle, includ-
ing complimentary continental
breakfast, educational semi-
nars and roundtables with
leading experts in the field.
For the second consecutive
year, Canadian makers will
be among the 700 talented
artists presenting their work.
Special exhibition categories,
at both wholesale and retail
portions of the show, include
the debut of Lawn & Garden
and repeat appearances of
Craft4Kids and Green Craft
as well as School-to-Market,
which builds a bridge between
academic study and the craft
marketplace. This year the
Council invited students from
the Rhode Island School of
Design and Savannah College
of Art and Design to curate
a section for their work.
At the retail show the work
of 15 AltCraft Artists will
once again be on view. This
bustling section celebrates the
burgeoning indie movement.
Demonstrations offer even
more opportunities for visi-
tors to interact with expert
makers and learn about craft.
